Traditional sources of grant-funding are diminishing or under threat, and organisations seem to be left with two options - find new ways of generating income or form new collaborations to bid for public service contracts. Either way innovation will be key.
This conference aims to 'reclaim' the term innovation from its association with technology and the corporate sector and remind ourselves that doing things differently and working together are what the voluntary sector is all about.
The other buzzword for the day is collaboration, but the aim is not just to talk about it, but to make it happen. This event is not about sitting back and listening to experts, it's about sharing our experiences, opinions and, yes, wisdom. We want to create a rare space for groups to collectively problem solve the main issues facing the sector today, and to build relationships that help resource our work, increase our reach, and better serve communities in need.
In the spirit of collective learning, we encourage you to come for the whole day - to help set the agenda in the morning and to feedback what you learned from the workshops to a 'bringing it all together' plenary in the afternoon. The workshops themselves will be part thought provocation, part discussion and part networking, so expect a fun and engaging day. The workshops will be first come, first served - so if you come for only half the day, make sure you get to your session on time!
