THCVS is looking for Trustees to join our Board at our upcoming AGM on Wednesday 31st January.
Our board currently has eight members; a mixture of member representatives from various Tower Hamlets charities, individual members and corporate volunteers. We are looking to fill a maximum of six vacancies at the upcoming AGM to help us ensure we have the capacity and skills to oversee the next phase of our work. Following a recent skills audit and away day, the Board have agreed that they would like to bring in some Trustees with knowledge of:
• Finance and budgeting
• Organisational development
• HR and legal issues
• Premises management
• Working within and supporting smaller community groups
We are looking for representatives of new organisations, social enterprises, faith groups and small community groups as well as people from some of the larger, longer established charities in Tower Hamlets. As a CVS in one of the most diverse boroughs of London, we are seeking to bring in more diversity on our board to ensure we continue to be representative of the sector and its concerns. If you have an interest in the local voluntary sector and would like to make significant difference to the third sector support in Tower Hamlets, we would like to hear from you.
Prior experience on boards is not necessary; we provide trustee training and support to our new Board members.
Trustees are expected to attend at least 4 evening board and 4 sub committee meetings a year, plus two away days. We ask that Board members come to all meetings well prepared; Trustees are expected to read papers in advance of each meeting and may also be asked to attend other events on THCVS’ behalf.
Positions are advertised for a period of 3 years (term may be renewed).
The roles are unpaid voluntary positions. THCVS covers out of pocket expenses for trustees.
How to apply:
A role description and nomination form are available below. For your application to be considered, this must be submitted no later than 5pm Friday 19 January. Candidates will be asked to present for 2-3 minutes at our AGM.
Please note: you will need to be a member of THCVS to stand for the Board. Membership is free and you can join online. A list of all of our current members is available at our website. If you have any queries about the membership process, please do feel free to contact our Membership & Events Officer, Shadique Gani, at firstname.lastname@example.org
