Aim

To promote, support and foster social enterprise activities in Tower Hamlets, particularly in the voluntary and community sector. The Network aims to strengthen and improve entrepreneurism in the voluntary and community sector and to provide an environment which enables the sector to operate more effectively. 

The Forum will:

  1. Bring together organisations to share information and best practice, and to discuss issues and formulate solutions.
  2. Ensure that appropriate support is easily available to established and emerging  voluntary and community organisations developing social enterprises
  3. Work to develop and enhance entrepreneurism in the voluntary and community sector in the borough.
  4. Seek to maximise opportunities to enhance sustainability, including funding, commissioning, trading and innovative income generation approaches.
  5. Work with the Local Authority and other statutory and private sector partners to develop multi-agency partnerships.
  6. Develop and respond to policy and strategy development on issues relating to social enterprise and entrepreneurism affecting voluntary and community organisations in the borough.
  7. Promote and support voluntary and community sector social enterprise and entrepreneurism in relation to the Council’s Enterprise and Employment strategies.
  8. Advocate for statutory policies and practices that support the entrepreneurial interests of the voluntary and community sector. 
  9. Advocate for public sector procurement practices that will not disadvantage voluntary and community sector and social enterprises.
